Every child is unique..so are her/his needs..so are her/his strengths..
We at Lorem Wellness Care, a leader in Occupational Therapy Center in Kochi believe that this uniqueness of the child is waiting to be nurtured and Pediatric OT helps children develop essential skills to do their day to day activities independently.

Here We are going to see some daily OT activities that the parents can incorporate at home to help their child’s development.

Let’s Go!!

1. Morning Routines

The idea here is to help children to independently do their day to day self care.
Simple things like encouraging your child to brush, pack bags etc with minimum help from parents helps them develop and enhancing their planning and executing skills.

2. Regulation of Sensory Play

This can be done by giving your child sensory bins filled using common things in the household like rice, pulses, small toys etc. This help their brains to interpret senses like touch, movement, sounds which enhances their awareness and sensory integration. Bewre not to over simulate the child though!

3. Fine Motor Skills

This is important to develop the child’s motor skills like handwriting, holding, using or doing things of day to day importance. Have your child pick beads or coins using a tweezers or anything like that and place the beads or coins inside a container. This activity helps strengthen their hand muscle and pincer grasp.

4. Gross Motor Skills

Development of Gross Motor Skills helps promote the child’s balance and coordination and boosts the child’s confidence. This can be done by having them overcome obstacle courses set by daily household items like pillows, baskets, chairs etc. This helps develop core strength of the child along with coordination and awareness.

5. Cognitive Skill Development

Cognitive skills help children to increase focus, process information and solve problems. So having them solve memory games, small puzzles or simple sorting tasks helps in enhancing their concentration and sequencing thus helping improve focus, process information and solve problems.

6. Emotional Regulation and Social Skills

Use role plays and story cards to speak about feelings and other social scenario which in turn develops the child’s self awareness, communication and most importantly empathy. Helping children communicate properly about their feelings and emotions in a social environment is a key part of pediatric OT.

At Lorem Wellness Care, whether your child needs help with writing, sensory regulation or self care and self help. Our Occupational Therapy Center in Kochi provides a very suitable environment to their growth and development to face this world with full confidence.
